It was before India's Independence that Bramhaleen Sri Sadgurudev Swami Akhandanand Saraswati Maharaj had started social activities in the remote tribal areas for the upliftment of the deprived Adivasis & other tribes, living away from the main stream of National life and Culture. His Holiness travelled extensively in the remote territories of India, where there was no Education, no Facilities and no Enlightenment, but Poverty, Backwardness and Superstitious indulgence. He enlightened them with the basic concepts of Ethical duties of an individual in life i.e. "Sanskars" and educated them with the principles of Hindu Religion and culture. The outcome of his efforts is worth visiting His Disciple and Successor His Holiness Acharya Mahamandleshwar Swami Vidyanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, in order to further carry on his work and for better education and upliftment of the tribals, decided to live amidst the tribals themselves. He has, therefore established his Ashram SHRI SADGURUDHAM, in the tribal area of Barumal itself, situated on the bank of river Mansi Ganga, surrounded by Satpuda Hills on three sides. With clean and peaceful environment, enchanted with Vedic Mantras and Yagna-fumes, one feels as if the Ashram is in the bed of Himalayas. This Ashram has become a source of inspiration with soothing feeling of spiritual enlightenment for the Adivasi people, only within last few years SADGURUDHAM is developed with Temples, Satsang Bhavan, High School Building, Gaushala, Kaivalya Kutir, Ved Vidyala (School of Vedic Education), Braddhashram (Home for the old people), Sant Niwa, Athithi Niwas, Hostels for boys and girls and Bhojanalaya etc., With all these, SADGURUDHAM has become a modern Tirth for all Hindus.
It is a wonderful occasion to have a glimpse of Sadgurudham located at bank of the Mansi River. Bhavbhaveshwar resides in Sadgurudham's own temple along with a vast range of Gods & Goddesses. The glimpse itself makes us feel that the Lord Mahadev is sitting with Bhagvati Pitambara Devi in his grand royal court. The Shivling weighs 6.5 tons, approx 5" height and is made up of eight metals like Gold, Zinc, Lead, Silver, Bronze...etc. Not only this but there are 11 faces of Rudra upon the Shivlinga. When we have a glimpse of this Shivlinga, we feel that every 11 Rudra has its own impact on us. Behind the Temple Kailasa mountain, the vivid picture of Trayodash Jyotirling has been established. And in the cave of Maa Vaishnodevi and of Navdurga the Pilgrim feel Divine. In the temple many Gods and Goddesses have been placed and that also with their original aspect, in which Riddhi Siddhi, Gajanand, Ganpati, Maharaj Lord Dwarkadhish, Lord Badrinath, Radha Krishna, Lord Shri Laxmi Narayan, Bhagvati Pitambara Devi, Durgamata, Mahalaxmi Mata, Lord Shri Ram & Sita, Panchmukhi Hanuman, Shri Dattatray, Jagadguru Shri Adi Shankaracharya, Suryanarayan and Navgrah Maharaj.
